Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 RTW
There's a fine line between fashion and art. Simply put there for order and distinction. Separate, but equal. But lately, with the emergence, or rather, the resurgence of the generation's next modern icon, the Lady dubbed Gaga, that line is quick to become imaginary. (again). So, on closer inspection of the Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 RTW collection on Vogue's Style.com, one dress not only literally blurs the lines of fashion and art, but INSTANTLY connects the two.
This brings us to Cibelle, the lovely Brazilian songstress, whose sophomore album The Shine of Dried Electric Leaves (2006) includes a gorgeous, honey-coated cover of Tom Waits' "Green Grass". The music video above was filmed and edited per the norm, but that's certainly not the bottom line. Once complete, São Paulo illustrator Adams Carvalho then drew over each frame. A lot like how the Marc Jacobs dress looks...scribbled on, right?
Two different applications following the same line of thought. Truly amazing.
Okay time's up. Pencils down.
